Outfit of the Day - Anya Dress

We have to get a little creative with Lilly in Detroit in the winter, so I decided to wear the Anya dress today with my Society cords. I think it looks cute as a top. I like it better as a dress with gold wedge sandals, but I'll be in cold temps until winter break and I don't want to wait to wear it!
Anya Dress in Surf Blue Checking In
For those of you who do not know me, I am not a native midwesterner. I grew up in the south and lived in South Florida and Atlanta before moving to the Detroit area 5 years ago. I arrived in Detroit with enough Lilly Pulitzer outfits to clothe a small nation. One day when I was unpacking yet another wardrobe box, I did a quick calculation of roughly how many warm
days there would be in Michigan, to determine how many outfits we could wear. It was a sad day. I discovered we would have to change about 2-3 times per day, in order to wear most of our favorites! Did this stop me from buying new spring, summer or resort items? Of course not! I did slow down a bit and focus more on the fall collection, but I love warm weather and the Lilly that goes with it! I decided right then and there that I would wear it as much as possible. Break the rules! Who cares? It should be the same temperature inside year round and quite possibly it feels colder in the summer due to the air conditioning. I still go by the strict southern guidelines of "NO WHITE SHOES BEFORE EASTER AND AFTER LABOR DAY", but other than that I've thrown everything else out the window! Who needs a wardrobe of black just because it is cold and gray outside? Not I!
